Nagpur, India – The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has uncovered a significant medical billing fraud scheme, leading to the arrest of a senior doctor from Western Coal Field Ltd. (WCL) Dispensary and a local pharmacy owner. The duo is accused of colluding to defraud the public sector company by using fake and inflated prescriptions to claim money for medicines that were never dispensed to patients. Investigations are ongoing to determine the full extent of the scam.

India's Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI)  has caught a senior doctor and a private pharmacy owner in Nagpur for allegedly running a major medical billing scam. The case involves the Medical Superintendent of the Western Coal Field Ltd.  (WCL) Dispensary and the proprietor of a local medical store.

The scam was straightforward: the doctor would write fake prescriptions or secretly add expensive medicines to real ones after the patient had left. The pharmacy owner would then use these forged documents to create hugely inflated bills and claim the money from WCL.

Essentially, WCL was paying for expensive medicines that were never actually given to patients. The CBI has already searched several locations and is continuing its investigation to figure out how deep the corruption goes.
